The project took the historical significance of ceramics manufacture to Stoke-on-Trent as a departure point to inform the identity of the proposal. Although there were questions about its suitability for development, the jury was attracted to the boldness of the proposals sinuous form which competes in scale, drama and strength to the broken up urban structure of the immediate area.
