The Long Plot

The long plot took its cue from the neighbouring village of Stoney Stratford, where long village plots have proved to have lasting adaptability as building needs have fluctuated. The jury appreciated the consideration of a suburb with housing suitable for all generations rather than only one group, the narrow plots being an interesting proposal to allow adaptation over time.

The project explored social structures and an approach to tenure than architecture or built form. Housing is grouped in small courts with shared community gardens and clustered communal resources. The jury welcomed this holistic consideration and positive vision for medium density housing in the 21st century.
